Life is for living!
The role of the Church is to facilitate that and guide people in the moral direction of the Church, which is to respect, help and glorify all Ura. The Church does this primarily through public ceremony.
There are ceremonies throughout the year, of varying flavours to provide a social, cultural and intellectual focus for the community:
- To mark the major landmarks in the life of the individual, with the imprimatur of the community: ie birth, coming of age, marriage, death etc.
- To provide an opportunity for people to celebrate the great things about life and the place we live in.
- To provide an opportunity to remember the more sobering aspects of reality.
Some of the celebratory occasions are so big that they become "Festivals" and spill out into the larger community with colourful processions, events and gatherings over a period of days.
