A fully fledged Church is a complex beast: It may start with some bright ideas, some evangelical speeches and a book of rules, but it quickly requires all the appurtenances of an organisation the moment it grows beyond one parish.
The parish church, with its building, pastor and congregation may be the soul of a Church, and its raison d'etre, but its brain is an executive synod, maintaining order, establishing a consistent moral position, reacting to external events and attending to the daily health of the Church.
With regard to the apparatus of management, the Church of Infinite Dimensions is no different to any other large Church. It has two explicit constitutions that lay down what may and may not be done by the Church and the manner in which decisions may be made.
The Global Constitution sets out the powers, responsibilities and modus operandi of the over-arching Executive and the Parish Constitution does the same for an individual parish.
