Greed

Greed

Warrant - Dirty, Rotten, Filthy, Stinking Rich

The Church of Infinite Dimensions glorifies and seeks to optimise humanity.

We are all human, and we rejoice in that. We are none of us saints and we rejoice in that!

Most of us find ourselves on a continuum between complete and all-consuming self interest and complete self sacrifice.

The Church holds that both these extremes are unhealthy and that we and our world are best served by sensitive development & fulfillment of the individual; socially, sexually, emotionally, intellectually, occupationally, physically, familiarly and artistically; in harmony with the development of a society and environment that fosters the ideals of the church, such as: respect for all creatures and respect for the environment.

This Church is about a balance between the individual and the world he lives in, each nurturing the other.

Scales

People who are only interested in acquiring wealth for themselves at the expense of others do not belong in this Church. They should be evicted by the congregation and taken to the nearest bank, told that there is their church and instructed to worship.

It is a natural human characteristic to seek to improve one's nest egg to prepare for the future by storing wealth away. Wealth is fine and acquiring wealth is fine, just don't do it at the expense of others and don't become obsessed with it.

Remember that this everlasting life we are embarked upon is not about money; it's about how you feel inside.

It's about self respect and fulfillment, being able to look at yourself in the mirror.

It's about having satisfying relationships with others who are embarked on the same eternal journey and being able to look them in the eye.

Life is about happiness and this Church is about happiness; deep, abiding secure happiness for all the creatures in this world.

Money can't buy happiness.

Money can't buy self respect.

Greed won't get you love. Let go of your greed, it will only stop you getting what you need.

Consider sex: Is the person who has a new sexual partner every week happier than the one who has had the same sexual partner for years? Emphatically NO! More is not necessarily better and can be worse. Take only what you need.

Consider gluttony: Is the person who has seconds of everything and who is always snacking, happier than the one who eats slowly and modestly? Certainly NOT! Leaving aside the unhappiness brought on by being fat, the glutton doesn't enjoy the food she is eating because she is just thinking of filling her belly, the slow eater on the other hand is savouring the flavour of each mouthful. It costs less too. Again, more is not necessarily better.

Consider cars: Is the owner of a large V8 4WD happier than the owner of inexpensive but capable 4 cylinder run-about? Most of the time absolutely not! Most of these large vehicles are found in large cities where their weight makes them expensive to run and their size makes them clumsy to drive and difficult to park. They cost more, and do more damage to the environment that the smaller, cheaper alternative and for what?

It's the same misguided basis in every case; that more is better. Not necessarily!

So... certainly pursue the things that you want but don't hurt others while you do it and don't let the present be an end in its self:

Don't be Greedy!
